BIA Housing Improvement Program
The Housing Improvement Program (HIP) is a home repair, renovation, replacement and new housing grant program administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and federally-recognized Indian tribes for American Indians and Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals and families who have no immediate resource for standard housing. Eligibility includes but not limited to, land control i.e. land assignment or legal lease, feasibility, property access, utility access, income, age, and family size.

IHS Sanitation Application
Indian Health Service funds a wide variety of community and individual housing projects. Projects may be managed by the IHS directly or they may be managed by a tribe. In recent years, project types have included:  providing sanitation facilities (water, well, and septic systems) for new homes and homes in “like new” condition or existing systems. These projects typically serve Indian homes being constructed or rehabilitated by funding provided through the Bureau of Indian Affairs Home Improvement Program or  Tribal Housing Programs.
